Sugar Production In India: India ranks among the top countries in the world in the production of crops. China is at the top in exports. Now another good news related to sugar production has come. There has been bumper production of sugar in different states of the country. The result of this was that there has been a record stock of sugar in the country.

Sugar production in the country increased to 120 lakh tonnes

According to media reports, the figures for the October-December quarter of the current marketing season have come out. According to him, the country’s sugar production has increased by 3.69 percent to 120.7 lakh tonnes. Indian Sugar Mill Association ISMA said that India is the leading producer of sugar in the world. Last year, sugar production in the same season was 116.4 lakh tonnes. Which has increased this year. The number of sugar mill crushers has also increased. Last year 500 sugar mills were crushing, whereas this year it has increased to 509.

Here is the status of sugar production in the states

ISMA has also given information about sugar production in the states. According to the report, sugar production in Maharashtra has increased from 45.8 lakh tonnes to 46.8 lakh tonnes in the October-December period of marketing year 2022-23. Sugar production in Uttar Pradesh has reached the level of 30.9 lakh tonnes. Sugar production in Karnataka has gone up to 26.7 lakh tonnes as against 26.1 lakh tonnes. The sugar production figure is 3.8 lakh tonnes in Gujarat, 2.6 lakh tonnes in Tamil Nadu and 9.9 lakh tonnes in other states.

There can be 365 lakh tonnes of sugar production in the year 2022-23

ISMA has also estimated that sugar production may increase in the year 2022-23 as compared to the previous marketing year 2021-22. Sugar production was 358 lakh tonnes in the year 2021-22, which will increase to 365 lakh tonnes in the year 2022-23. Looking at the situation of good production of sugar, the central government will also consider exporting it. Its export quota will also be fixed. In the marketing year 2021-22, India had exported a record 111 lakh tonnes of sugar.
